Six doctors — Dr Manish Patel, Dr Shruti Singh, Dr Donna Glyde, Dr Howard Smith, Konstantinos Savva and Dr Emily Spencer — spent an evening with Year 12 students at Havant College, talking about their careers and the routes they took into them, followed by an interview preparation workshop.
The event was open to students across the Mike King Partnership, and to anyone else in or around Portsmouth who asked.
Oaklands Catholic School hosted the Essential Reading Book Club. Alongside the reading, students sat mock interviews and talked about training as a doctor with a group of local doctors.

Professor Pradeep Bhandari offered free places at Endoport, the Portsmouth advanced endoscopy symposium, to students from the Mike King Partnership. It brings world leaders in endoscopy to the city each year.
Sitting in on an international conference is not something most sixth formers get to do, and it is exactly the kind of genuine academic interest an interview panel wants to hear about — not because it looks good on paper, but because you were actually there and have something to say about it.
