For medical students from Portsmouth, or with links to the area.
The Dr Mike King Trust is a Portsmouth charity helping local sixth-formers get into medicine, dentistry and vet school. It was set up in memory of Dr Mike King, a Portsmouth consultant radiologist. We run free mock interviews with local doctors, talks, a book club and a two-year programme for Year 12 and 13.
You’ve been where they are. A few words from you about your university, your course and how you got in can make a real difference.
How you could help
- Tell us about your university and course: what it’s really like.
- Share application tips: personal statement, UCAT, interviews.
- Talk about open days and choosing a university.
- Mentor a small group, online or in person.
- Judge Future Doctors Journal entries.
- Speak at an event, even for 10 minutes.
What you get
- Experience for your CV or portfolio.
- A certificate.
- The chance to give back to Portsmouth.
We’re working on ways to recognise your time, including some payment for some roles; we’ll tell you more when it’s agreed.
There is no minimum commitment: we get in touch when something suits you. Students never contact you directly through the website; everything goes through the Trust.
